Meet sydney
Sydney is a Family Nurse Practitioner and mom of three who developed a passion for postpartum care after navigating her own postpartum challenges. She leads our recovery program focused on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of common postpartum symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, mood changes, and more. Whether symptoms stem from hormonal shifts, nutrient depletion, nervous system dysregulation, inflammation, sleep disruption, or the physical demands of birth, her goal is to uncover what’s driving them and create a personalized path toward healing.

My care does not replace the care provided by your OB-GYN or midwife but is intended to provide additional support with a focus on health promotion and holistic wellness. Typically, you will have one postpartum visit with your OB-GYN at six weeks postpartum. Home visits with me will focus on your well-being in the time before and after that visit. Early home visits can help ensure that your body is healing properly, identify any potential complications, and provide mental health support as you navigate the dramatic hormone shifts postpartum. After your 6 week visit, ongoing postpartum care with me will provide further individualized support to monitor your physical and emotional recovery.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Ethics from Davidson College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. I obtained my Master’s in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018. I am a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with additional training in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) and nutrition. I worked as a registered nurse in the Pediatric ICU at VCU Medical Center before becoming a family nurse practitioner. I have previously worked in a free clinic, private practice, and currently work part-time in urgent care. My passion for women’s health and specifically postpartum care developed from a combination of my professional and personal experiences. I’ve cared for postpartum moms with acute medical needs and mental health concerns throughout my career, but it wasn’t until I had my own children that I truly understood first-hand the need for more on-going and comprehensive postpartum support.
