Meet KelseY Carroll

(Co-Owner & Founder)

BSN, RN, IBCLC, CEIM, CFT provider

Hi! I’m Kelsey, and I have been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2018 & a Bachelor’s prepared Registered Nurse since 2012. I have supported breastfeeding moms in a variety of settings: 7 years at VCU hospital as a postpartum nurse and lactation consultant, 2 years at CJW hospital as a lactation consultant, 3 years at Commonwealth Pediatrics as a lactation consultant, and in-home since 2022 with Coming Home.

I have assisted thousands of mothers like you during the important first moments after birth and provided one-on-one guidance for up to one year after. I provide a non-judgmental approach and counsel to families as they navigate the challenges and joys of parenting, in addition to providing assistance with their unique feeding struggles. I want all mothers to feel genuinely supported, thoroughly informed, and ultimately confident in caring for their babies in a way that truly suits their individual families and fosters a nurturing environment.

As a mom of two, I can wholeheartedly attest to you that the journey of motherhood has profoundly changed me in ways I never could have anticipated. I graduated nursing school and went right into the Emergency Department working as an RN and searching for the “adrenaline” rush that I thought would fulfill me. Never in my wildest dreams, back then, would I have ever imagined that I would find myself doing the meaningful work I am so passionately engaged in now. Through my own personal struggles with maintaining an adequate milk supply and the compassionate, uncritical care I received, I was inspired to become that supportive person for you on your feeding journey! Becoming a mom truly opened my eyes to the desperate need for more comprehensive lactation and postpartum support in our community. It became clear to me how essential it is for new mothers to have access to resources that can help them navigate this crucial time in their lives. I will never forget the women who helped me along the way during a time I felt so lost and simply “didn’t know what I didn’t know.” It will be a blessing for me to have the opportunity to help you navigate and manage this important transition in your life.

MEET KATIE SkaggS

(Co-Owner & Founder)

BSN, RNC-MNN, IBCLC, CEIM, CFT Provider

Hi! I'm Katie, and I have been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2017, and a Bachelor's prepared Registered Nurse certified in Maternal/Newborn Nursing since 2011. I spent 13 years working in-patient at VCU Health with families during the precious first days of meeting their new baby, and now I am so fortunate to offer in-home lactation support with Coming Home.

Every day is different with new challenges and unique family dynamics, but it is always an honor to be part of the journey. Each of us has our own path that leads us to where we are, and I truly feel this is what I am meant to be doing — supporting women, nurturing families, and helping you to achieve your goals whatever they may be.

I am a mother to two boys, and while I did breastfeed them both, it was not without challenges. A dear friend and IBCLC came to my home to help me during that time and I was so incredibly grateful for her help and guidance. She changed our trajectory, and it was in this moment I knew I would pay this gift forward someday.

Something fun about me is that this is my second chapter. I spent my first 10 years after high school dancing professionally for the Richmond Ballet. While in many ways it feels like a completely different world, it provided me with an incredible work ethic, a desire to understand how the physical body works, and the realization that to connect with other humans you too have to be vulnerable.

Meet Hannah Robertson

BSN, RNC-MNN, IBCLC

Hi! I’m Hannah, and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Bachelor’s prepared Registered Nurse certified in Maternal/Newborn nursing. I worked as a RN alongside Kelsey and Katie for over 6 years on the mother-infant unit at VCU Health System. In this role, I truly loved supporting moms and babies by helping with breastfeeding and providing evidence-based care and education. Once I became a mother, I was beyond excited to nurse my own baby. When I then struggled greatly with breastfeeding, I learned firsthand how truly hard it can be. As a regular at lactation appointments, I remember vividly how much the consultants helped me and more importantly, how they made me feel—supported and validated in my struggles. I ultimately ended up exclusively pumping just shy of a year. Though it wasn’t the outcome I envisioned, I felt very proud of myself and knew I wouldn’t have made it without lactation support.

I was very grateful to then be able to stay home with my daughter for several years. During this time, I assisted with a few births a year as a Certified Doula and achieved my IBCLC in the summer of 2023. In returning to the mother-infant niche, I decided to pursue lactation because I feel passionate about empowering women to achieve their feeding goals, whatever those may look like. I have a unique perspective to offer because I know what it feels like when breastfeeding doesn’t go the way you planned and hoped. Whatever your situation may be, I’m here to empathize with you and help you every step of the way!

MEET Jesse Peters

MS, CCC-SLP, CLC

Hi, I’m Jesse! I am a master's prepared Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) specializing in Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing since 2012 and a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) since 2021. I have been working in a pediatric medical setting with infants and toddlers with feeding disorders since 2012. After having 3 breastfed babies of my own and experiencing postpartum struggles, I became passionate about helping parents and babies with complex feeding issues.

There can be many reasons for early childhood feeding difficulties. Having three babies with tongue-ties myself, I know first-hand how important oral function is to having a successful feeding journey. From breastfeeding, to bottle feeding, to introduction of solids through purees or baby-led weaning (BLW), I am here to help you problem solve every step of the way. I cannot wait to help your family find joy and confidence in feeding times!

Meet Katie Noland

CPD

Hi! I'm Katie, a postpartum doula, certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA). Perhaps my best training for the job, though, comes from having experienced the birth and postpartum period with my four young children over the last decade.

I have always loved babies, and after having my own children, I became deeply passionate about caring for moms and babies in their first few weeks after birth. Every other developed (and underdeveloped!) nation has at least some system in place to help families during their fourth trimester, whether that be through cultural norms, sacred practices, the structure of their healthcare system, or even simply their acknowledgement of what a delicate time the postpartum period is. My goal in doing this important work is to help combat the lack of postpartum care that we have in this country, beginning with the care of you and your baby.
